Talking porschephile?

I went in the other direction, starting with a 914 and then acquiring a 944.

I don't think it takes a given number of Porsches. Rather, it's a state of mind.

I have loved Porsches since before I even had a license. I talked my dad into buying a '74 911 which I promptly learned to drive in and took my test in. I loved Porsches and was more of a Porschephile than those guys who buy a new 996 just so they can say they drive a Porsche.

That said, congrats on the 914. I love them and will own one some day. I hope...

Its far easier to buy a 944 just so you can say you drive a Porsche

It would be, but some people still have too much money.

That said, in a year or so I hope to have a second 944. That way, I can say I own two Porsches.

There is no number, it's a state of mind. I was sold on Porsches at ~age 5 when my friend's dad took us for a ride in his 924. I was shortly thereafter doomed to be broke for the rest of my life!

I always thought a Porschephile was a Porsche snob, like the people who said back in the 60s, that a 911 wasn't a "real" Porsche because it was a 6 cylinder; who said in the 70s that a 914 or 924 or 928 wasn't a "real" Porsche because it didn't have the engine in the right place; who said in the 90s that a real Porsche couldn't be water-cooled and that the 911 didn't look different enough from a Boxster. A "Porschephile" is like a music snob who won't accept anything from this band or that band since they starting selling a lot of records. My "Porschephile" boss told me, when I was shopping for my 914, that 914s are junk. "Porschephile" is just a label. Enjoy what you like and don't worry about what somebody else says or thinks.

Sorry for the OT but when you drive up to NoVA to get the car be careful on I95. VA loves writing tickets. 80mph is reckless driving as well as going 20+ over the posted speed. At least youll get lots of practice driving in traffic while you are here.

It depends on the definition you subscribe to. To me, a Porschephile is someone who loves Porsches so much they find it difficult to start a conversation that doesn't have to do with a Porsche. I think if you have it in you to own more than one p-car, you qualify. Shoot, I'm only 22 and I have 2 of my own! My parents want to strangle me.
