Damn that sucks.

I don't know if mineral spirits would help clean up the goo or not. It works great on gum and tar.

Worse than fix a flat, or oil is milk.

Lost a half gallon under the seat of my town car. Had become a solid, stuck to everything and couldn't get it out, AND stunk to high heavan.

Transmision died (again) and I junked it.

NOt as bad a smell as a body would have I suspect, but pretty bad.

I am so sorry for you. I hope you have success cleaning up and restoring the interior.

The can stuck in the back of the car is just unreal.

Update -- I've started the cleanup effort. Started on the windows since that's affecting my visibility. So far, isopropyl alcohol seems to be doing the trick. The easiest was the driver door window - I just took off the tint. It's that ugly purple plastic stuff and was starting to develop bubbles anyway, so no regrets there. It's taking a little bit of elbow grease but it's removing it well. Takes a bit of time to get all the residue off, but progress is steady. Haven't tried to attack the fabric or door panels. That will come later.

As for the smell, I've already removed the hatch floormat and am going to try and take the rear seat top off. That should take care of most of the fabric, except for the hatch liner.

Dude, that SUUUUUUUUUCKS. But, your misfortune has obviously changed a lot of minds here on the board... mine included. I still have the ancient "compressed" spare on the steel wheel that came with the car originally, and was going to carry a Fix-a-Flat can around as well... not thinking real highly of that option any more.

Good luck with your continued cleanup efforts... I hope it comes out of the carpets, because that's a gorgeous interior! As an idle thought, I wonder if insurance would cover the dent repair? Maybe whats-her-name from Mythbusters will come down and console you while they film your damage?

I can now gaurentee that everyone who just threw out their Fix-A-Flat will now get a nail or screw stuck in their tires by tomarrow morning! Thats just how the world works!

Also I gotta say it is 100% safe to store anything in those hatch pockets, becayse it's sunlight that explodes stuff.

Damn, I think that tops my experience.

But I will say that I kept a can of fix-a-flat in the hatch well or behind the seats for 4 years with no problem - it was only when I moved it to the hatch, exposed to sunlight that there was a problem.

Man that blows Brian - literally!

Try Fabreeze for any odors. Took the smell of a half pound of raw shrimp out of my daughters car. And that was after cooking in the Texas sun for about 6 weeks while she was off at school! Talk about STINK!

I can only imagine how rancid that smelled! Whoooo!

The smell isn't nearly as bad now that I took the hatch floormat out and removed the rear seat top. Good idea with the Febreeze, though.

I looked online for the tire inflator hose but didnt see it. I will check the package at home for the name of it. It is a good alternative to fill up the compact spare for those of us that do not have the factory compressor anymore.
