not enough fuel

not enough fuel
Hard start, runs and stops, looked over everything and the nut on the end of the fuel rail is wet with gas. Tightened it up as hard as I dared and it's still leaking. So is a new fuel rail the answer? Any help appreciated, 1983 944

This may or may not be fuel related. First thing you should do is check your fuel pressure. There is a good write on this at www.clarks-garage.com
Also, that nut on the end of the fuel rail should have a ball bearing behind it when you remove the nut. That is what actually seals the end of the fuel rail.
DO NOT drive the car until you repair that leak, or make sure you're carrying a fire extinguisher.

Thanks, Ron, she's off the road until it's fixed! I heard about the fire problem. I tried to remove the nut to check the pressure at my mechanic's place, we slackened the nut off 2 flats then it got very tight and we were worried the the threads would strip so we tightened it up again and it's leaking. I just ordered a replacement fuel rail, and o rings for the injectors, I'll install those then check the fuel pressure.
