FOR SALE: 1987 944S TRACK DAY CAR
For Sale in Tallahassee, FL: A 1987 944S track day car. The car is not road legal, but also has no roll cage. One could be fitted easily. The car is a fantastic track day car, however. The interior has been completely removed, except for the dashboard and stock seats. Driver's side seat is cosmetically in bad shape, however it is still comfortable and totally usable. The passenger side seat is still in pretty decent shape. The headlights, power steering pump, A/C compressor, power steering fluid resevoir, winshield washer fluid resevoir, and headlight motor have all been removed.
The engine is in very good shape, however, the timing belt is about due for a change. The engine is the 16 valve 2.5 Litre. In stock trim, it produces nearly 190 hp. The engine is no longer stock. The catalytic converter has been removed and the head has been completely rebuilt with the following modifications; Webcams Stage I cam shafts, 968 intake valves, a port and polish, and shaved down slightly to increase compression ratio. All work done by Huntley Racing in California. Have driven and enjoyed it for over 5,000 miles since rebuild and have had no problems. I have no dyno charts, but I am pretty sure the car makes over 200 hp. I would put it on par with a 944 turbo, before it went on it's diet to become a track car. My records are a little lacking, but I do have some documentation. Honestly, I never thought I would be selling this car.
There are no suspension mods and it rides on 15" color-matched phone dials.
Cosmetically, it is in poor shape. This car is not pretty. The car is white and has plenty of cracking in the paint. There is also a large dent in the front, right corner of the car. All of the heat shielding underneath the hood has been removed (causing the pretty darn cool effect of the hood steaming in light rain).
I am selling the car in order to help fund a racing kart. This car is not a good candidate for a road car, but could be restored to such. I imagine the perfect buyer for this car would be someone looking for a cheap track toy. How much you ask? $1000 gets you a very quick, running and solid 1987 944S Track Toy. Please contact me at noleanimal@yahoo.com if interested or you want pics (not much to look at). Thank you.

Yes, I do. All the receipts for the internal modification work done. But since I have done a lot of the mechanical maintenance myself, I don't have receipts for any sort of regular maintenance. Thank you for your interest.

I'll answer several questions I have gotten about this car in other emails.
1) Yes, I do have the title. However, the car is not road legal. This car was my daily driver for several years before being retired (promoted?) to track duty.
2) To be made road legal, at a very minimum, the car would have to have the headlights re-installed. And not just the lamps, the entire assembly. The only thing that remains of the entire headlamp and headlamp pop-up assembly is the sheet metal tops of the headlamps, the wiring, and the bar that connects the headlamp motor to both headlamps. Also, the passenger seat does come with the car and can be installed easily, although the rest of the interior is gone.
3) The car will NOT pass smog inspection in any states that have such inspections. There is no catalytic converter.

How soon do you need it gone? It's a good deal but the earliest I could come and get it would be Aug 25th or 26th. Oh, and how does it look under the aftermarket rocker panels?
