I purchased this 944 the other day knowing its body was a bit different from other 944's I've seen. Being new to 944's and not knowing everything about them, I was wondering if someone might be able to help me identify these modifications. It's a 1988 944, German specs. The guy who had it said it was some sort of 968 rear and front end conversion.. obviously the hatch is completely different from any 944 I've seen, but the headlights I've seen on one or two other 944's. Anyhow, here are the pics.. any feedback would be appreciated.

944S 16-valve with a custom front end and 968 back clip. I'd delete the "968 cup" font, and it would be a pretty cool car.

968 mirrors, custom hatch, strosek look alike custom nose w/ 968 lights and molded into the bumpers, 968 rear bumper, get rid of the decal on the back and i'll except it as pretty cool.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. Now I know what exactly I have.. As for the 968 CUP decal, took care of that. Does anyone know what the chances are that someone might have altered the mileage on the gauge cluster? The records + the gauge cluster indicate just over 40,000km's, but that sounds off by about 100,000km's...

German spec could be the S2 since they came out in the U. S. in 89 and earlier in Germany. Read the engine numbers if its 3.0L then its the S2 if not, its the S.
