I just bumped into this, and I had never heard of it.. Sounds like an absolute blast of a time....

When I had a subscription to Autoweek they used to do a write-up yearly about the event--this was a long time ago. The last one I read about featured a 69 Z/28 Camaro which was running a 502 (IIRC) and could do 210MPH, and some guy who at the time had a 959 which he was supposed to run, but had to return the car to Europe for some reason,(this was before they were considered "legal") so he brought his Testarossa instead. The same year a guy died when he crashed his Pantera and another couple died when their 911 went off-course. Crazy race.

 

Yeah ummm put me in the sane column where I would go for say 100mph average speed... it is a rally afterall so timing is more important than fastest there.... Though I am sure there is the unofficial fastest trophy too
