Anybody Ever Measure the Noise Level Inside the Cabin?
I'm wondering what the noise level inside my 944 is. I've been in and out of a lot of friends' sedans and SUVs lately, and as could be expected, the noise levels in their cabins are significantly lower. Has anybody actually measured the noise level inside their 944? I figure a simple semi-scientific test would be to use a portable dB meter set up at ear level with readings done at various speeds and gears. Of course, the road and tires have an effect, but I'd like to put a number to what I'm hearing.

I have a meter, but right now I have my left window out for some fixing in the door. Will do some tests and let you know. Bear in mind though my rt. side engine mount is bad so there may be noise from that.

The noise level is pretty high in our 944S. Road noise, wind noise you name it. If it were a daily distance driver for me I would look to add some dampening material throughout.
The 928GTS is serene in comparison.

The test was done with my car, same as is Wiel magazine, I'm waiting for a copy of the test from them - will post it here. Currently only have a faxed copy.

I have a db meter but......I just don't care
I don't listen to the stereo either though. The only time it gets turned on is when the wife is in the car, and it has a little remote so she does not get in my way when I am shifting
I want to hear every little tick.
But I do like the process of learning so I may take it home with me this weekend and meter a few things.

Mine is ****ing loud. At the moment I don't have my shift boot on (and the rubber boot has a few holes in it) and I have a slight exhaust leak....
My moms 86 is perfect.... I think I will be adding insulation, fixing the exhaust leak, getting a quiet muffler...putting some fiberglass in between the 2 boots of the shifter..
How can people drive these cars stripped?? Or with fart cans (theres one around here with one...) I'm only 18 and I can't stand anything much louder then stock

I wish mine were quieter. I have some wind noise, not sure if it is the hatch or sunroof. My goal is to stop the wind noise and then add some sort of sound deadener. Not sure how much quieter it would be. If anyone has done this maybe they could report the results and what they did.

I think mine is quiter with the top down than with the top up.
But it seems most of the noise comes from my tires and the wind at higher speeds. You don't really hear the engine unless you are revving it to the higher RPMs.
