Anything short of rewiring is a waste of time.

not really the issue with e-codes, it's the same way here. My cibies direct light almost perpendicular to the car. They project out wide, but do not put out much of anything over about 7 feet high or so in front of you. Unless you got deer flying down on you, you probably won't miss anything.

DONT YOU WAN SOME OV DEEZ???....

DEY GIVE Ya 15 HORSEPOWER!!
that translates into 1300 hondapower.

They even have a carrera gt on the sticker!!!

I would go with a H4 conversion and the rennbay wiring kit. You will see a huge improvement.

I have Hella H-4's in all my vehicles that accept round lights and the low beam is equal to the DOT halogen high beam. I empirically determined that at 60 MPH on low beam I can see a deer by the side of the road, mentally process that a deer is by the side of the road, and slow to a near stop without undue dramatics (ie no lock-up) before reaching the deer by the side of the road, letting said deer safely cross the road. Whatever lights you have be careful about aiming as you are then less annoying to others and get better lighting besides. E-codes do take some getting used to as they don't light up the overheads but they are better in every other respect. I have never had any trouble with law enforcement.

Isn't running one light with "illegal" lighting asking for some unwanted attention even if the kighting is adequate?

Tom are you talking about me?

One of my BRIGHTS doesn't work, both low beams do... And it's not the bulb. So since you never use brights when anyone is in view, no cop will ever know, and it won't be annoying to anyone else.

I thought you said one low beam was out.

The "aim, don't annoy" was a general comment since a lot of deivers (but no Porsche driver of course) seem to overlook aiming their lights (or aim them to hit my rear view mirror). Worst offenders are of course SUV's and pick-ups.

I can't ever see anyone getting a ticket for having E-code lights. Wouldn't it require a cop to go up to the light and read the manufacturer and part number of the lens, then go look it up? I've had e codes on my M3 and my 951 forever, and no one has ever noticed.

This is why they have foglights on most european cars, which work better than any headlight since they spread light low at almost 180 degrees sweep and not BLIND oncoming traffic. If you really have driven out in the fields, you know only high beam with fog lights are effective, not the pathetic low beam lights.

You probably wouldn't get pulled over for E-codes unless they noticed the beam pattern was off ("failure to dim. . "). Once they stop you anything is fair game. Then they could read the lens. Also DOT lights have 3 nubs on them for aiming. My Hellas have a flat lens. I had a friend who got a ticket for having one of the nubs on his DOT lights broken off. If they want to trouble you this is one way to do it. As you note I've had them on cars for 10+ years with no problem, but when all is said and dnoe they are illegal. Now I think I'll stay up all night worrying about that.

having a broken O-ring on the gas cap is illegal here in Ca too but just like the speed limit, not many people follow it strictly.

Hey Guys,

What's with all the worrying about rewiring? I just put in the the Rennbay wiring kit. Took all of about an hour......with 30 minutes of that being removing and replacing the "PITA" alternator rear ducting.
It's a really easy install.
