Default Driver kick Panel/Hood release

I think I am missing a trim piece on my driver side kick panel, around the hood release. I think I read certain parts of the hood release are a common failure. Does anyone or could anyone take pics of a correct kickpanel hood release so I can see if I am missing something. Thanks in advance.

The carpet flopped over onto my foot this morning, so something obviously isn't right, I am just wondering whether it is a missing/broken part or just some failed adhesives.....

one part is held on with 3 phillips head screws and the hand pull pivots inside that part to open the hood.
the cable attaches to the pivot point and slides into a sleeve.

it was about $8 from the dealer.

Ok sounds like I must be missing that part, there is no plastic surround around my hood release just raw carpet edges. Thanks
