OK, i am in a bit of a pickle
Me in pickle:
Basically the shocks in the rear (and soon to be the front ones as well) have gone out, so much so to the point where it is cornering worse than my ford escort and is in desperate need of replacement. i'd like to get some real nice shocks, but i dont track the car right now so the need is not really there, but i'd still like a stiff and great handling car. i dont really remember the prices, but as i recal Koni's are way out there and blistiens seem to be a good compromise. WHAT SHOULD I DO, i'll be replacing all four shocks so what do you guys recommend? also i'm going to have to check with my job, because they'll give me great discounts on anything i buy through them but i'm not sure exactly what they can get their hands on. So point me in the right direction guys, thx ~kirk

I have Bilsteins on my 924S and like them alot. Good ride and handling, and obviously a quality product. I don't track my car, but it doesn't mind being pushed with these. Bilsteins will last.
I don't like cheaper alternatives like KYB after having them on other cars, they just wore out way to quickly, but they are very inexspensive.
I paid $400 shipped for the Bilsteins, can't beat that if you ask me.

They've gone up about $20 bucks since I got them last fall, but still a good deal.

I just put the Boge/stock replacements back on mine. It was real cheap and they do pretty good. My Maxima is all decked out for track use, so I wasn't interested in a real harsh ride.

The Konis will set you back about $600. Ive seen the Bilsteins go from some of the ebay vendors for $420 shipped. Hopefully my bilsteins will get hewre next week so I dont have to drive on a blown shock anymore.

actually i am ok with shelling out $420.00 for bilsteins http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1
or even $600 for koni's
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1
i thought it was going to be more. with my next paycheck i'll be able to cover the cost. now the real question is can i install them myself w/o F'ing it up. i havn't spent any time investigating the installation so i dunno, but it can't be worse than installing PS rack/pump right?

Clark's garage has instructions on both the front and rear procedures, might want to read through them and see if you think you can do it....

Look under garage shop manual

lol here is the procedure for the rear:
Raise the rear of the vehicle on jack stands.
It isn't necessary to remove the rear wheels. However, it makes the shock replacement much simpler.
Loosen the lower shock mounting bolt.
Using a floor jack, raise the trailing arm until the lower shock mounting bolt can be removed.
Loosen and remove the upper shock mounting bolt.
Remove the shock from the vehicle.
Installation is the reverse of removal.
but the front struts seem a tad more complicated!!!!!!!!!

Please don't go with KYB. The car's next owner will hate you. If you keep it for 4 years, you'll hate yourself. Mine are starting to squat under hard acceleration, and don't even have 40k on them. Boge, Bilstein, or Koni are far better alternatives.
