is this possible?

it's rubbing somewhere and I need to bend it to fit better.
or I was thinking maybe i could heat it up put and something inbetween where's its rubbing, and then pull up on the linkage to put a slight bend in it, yeah, no?

also the 13mm bolt that bolts the linkage to the transmission broke off.
any recommendations on getting it out?

do I have to drop the tranny?
anything else I should replace if I do have to drop the tranny?
(tranny mount etc)

I've only had my linkage out when I was having my motor out also. What is it rubbing on? I would think fixing what its rubbing on rather than bending the linkage would be a better idea.

My thoughts exactly. The car was designed w/o rubbing linkage, so unless it was previously damaged and bent, I wouldn't go bending it.

Jake, when are you moving to Houston, and where in Houston?

it's rubbing on the body, which I could dent if I had to...

take a look at my sig to see why it doesn't all fit like a normal stock car would.

You have either seriously fuked something or the car has crashed in the past. You need to drop the transaxle to set this stuff right. That might sound big but its not. i just dropped an replacement into my 85.5 and it wasn't bad, but you want to either build a bracket on a floor jack or find a tranny jack as the sucker gets pretty heavy and its awkward working up there. Good luck, I'd help out but Seattle is a bit far.

can I get it out without removing the tranny?

irrc that is the splined shaft coming out of the transmission with a pin you use to tighten it? If you broke that I don't know how you'd replace it without pulling out the transmission (or the casing) but if you broke the actual linkage i've got a spare I can send you

I just broke the bolt. I'm having a hard time getting a hold of one too.

The red circle is all over the place. If it's bolt B, isn't it just a standard M8 bolt? Can you get a vice-grip on what's left? Otherwise, I'd just drop the tranny to get better work space (not much room up there). If it's the pin that goes into the transmission, ugh... good luck....

Joeseph is right. If that bolt has sheared it's easier to drop the TA than try to work on it in place. Dropping the TA isn't that hard and at least you will know the repair was done right.

bolt B has a conical end that slips into a recess in the shaft for proper alingment. Get a replacement bolt at the dealer. When I needed one, they had a few in stock. They are used on other models also.

I was just going through my spare parts bin, and I think I just found one of those bolts -- conical end, 13mm head, a hole for a safety wire through the head. If you need it, PM me with your address.

ok so I got the bolt,
and I put it in with red locktite too

however, it did'nt go all the way in. 1/8" gap between bolt head and what it's screwing into

IS THIS RIGHT?????
