Stereo question - FM band used in Europe?
About 6 months ago the FM stopped recieving in my Blaupunkt Reno SQR46. When I switched to FM it would scan through all the regular FM frequencies but it was like it wasn't recieving anything and it still said AM in the display. Just a little light static as if it were on an empty frequency.
I don't have the factory stereo manual. Can someone verifiy this and if it's true how do I switch it back to the U.S. FM band?
Second question: How do you set the clock on the stereo?

I thought the radio was fried also. Then my neighbor who used to have an '89 with the same stereo said that he remembered this was setting that could be adjusted.

ARI problem?
Is it possible the ARI button is stuck on? It's a button that scans the FM frequencies for traffic reports and the radio would then lock on the station broadcasting the traffic report. No idea about setting the clock, but this could possibly be the problem with the radio.

I've pushed the ARI button several times. I can still scan through all the FM frequencies and it still says AM down in the lower right hand corner. Switch to regular AM and it works fine.

I had the same stereo in my car and am trying to find the manual. But if I remember correctly when I lived in Germany I thought that we had a different interval than Europe did? Or maybe it was just on the AM bands?
I'll keep looking to see if I can find the manual. I upgraded a couple of years ago but think I still have the manual around somewhere.

FWIW, my Blaupunkt Reno 5-Series receiver purchased and installed in my 944S2 cab in the U.S. works fine here in Europe on both AM and FM bands. There may be something wrong with your particular unit.

I actually used to engineer at a small FM radio station in Britain... US bands limits are essentially the same as Europe. FM (formerly more correctly known in the UK as "Band II") in Europe is 88MHz-108 MHz. Here it's about the same. In USA, the decimal point has to be odd, so stations can be on 101.5, 97.1, 100.3 etc., whereas in Europe, they can be on odd & even decimal digits: 96.7, 95.8, 102.4, 107.1 etc. Basically a European radio has no problem over here, but a US radio will have big problems over there, since any station with an even-numbered last digit will fall in between the cracks.
However, if your radio still says AM, are you getting decimal points in the readoout? -Sounds like it's just not going over to FM to me if it continues to say "AM".
