40-49

how long have you had the car?
since 10/17/2004 so just under 2 years

is it a daily driver, casual driver, track, etc.
When it's sunny out, it's a daily driver, I drive it everywhere. If it rains, it hides in the garage. I also drive it at PCA DE's, which is why I got the car to begin with.

how much money have you spent in restorations, upgrades?
Not so much in restoration as opposed to getting the mechanicals in order, save the suspension upgrade I did this year.

what other kinds of car do you have?
2002 Pontiac Grand Prix (winter / bad weather car), 2000 GMC Safari (family truckster).

That's pretty interesting to me, at age 41, because back when the 944 first came out, I considered it, how do you kids say, the shiznit. Back in 85, when my 944 was new, I was making $4.50 an hour and a 944 seemed almost as unobtainable as a new Carrera Turbo does today. So my 944 represents to me something I always aspired to. Even today, when I drive it, I'm kinda transported back to those days. What does somebody who was in diapers in the 80s see in the 944?
While I may have been reading Goodnight Moon when my car was in production, i could still appreciate that it was a sweet car. When I was younger, my best friend's cousin had a 944 that was supposed to go to my friend, and so he helped build it up in my head. So when I actually went surfing online for a 924/944, I had some idea of what sort of car I was looking at.

But in a more immediate sense, it represented a cheap way to get a quick, fun car that would be more exciting to drive than my day to day car and could possibly do some auto-x or DE duty.

oh and i was unfortunately surprised to find that these cars aren't all as cheap as some forum members make them out to be...I knew I was buying a bit of a fixer-upper, but I didn't realize how much it would cost to fix it up...

With these cars maintenance $$$ comes down to how much you can do yourself.

20-29
I don't own it yet (on paper), but I've been slowly cleaning it up for a few years now. It's a free car from my aunt.
It was a daily driver from day 1, but once it's officially mine, it's turning into a weekend/track/autox car.
None, but I see about $3-5k USD going into it for belts, clutch, torque tube, engine rebuild, repaint, seats, harnesses, suspension/steering and tires. It seems low because I do all the work myself.
97 Jetta Turbo Diesel. Other cars in the driveway include a 97 Jetta GT (dad) and 2000 Jetta GL (mom)

HAH! Bad question. Not a lot on the 944, maybe 1500 so far (but I'm rebuilding the engine at the moment). I spent that much on the 951 the first week I owned it though. And I bought a running car LOL.
