Lightbulb Rotor screw

Yeah, I need that STUPID, stupid rotor screw, as some jerkwad at Autozone got in there, and before I realized what he was doing last year, stripped that screw, and they won't replace it.

Anyone know the size specs, or how much it is, or if I can buy it off someone?

Thanks!

may want to check paragon-products.com or pelicanparts and see if they carry them. Used ones arent always the best way to go and how much could it be?

Do you really need it? I thought that stupid thing just helped with the rotor installation process but wasn't functional once the lug nuts are torqued down.

Part #n.033.167.1 sells for 87 cents or so 6x12. Probably pick it up at any Porsche dealer.

You don't need the factory part. I used a machine pan-head screw with some loctite--2 years ago--still going strong.

I sent her a PM about that after deleting my earlier brake rotor reply. The size of the set screw on the ign. rotor depends on the manuafacturer of the rotor; I've seen at least 2 different sizes.

1: I'm assuming your talking about the bolt that holds the distributor "rotor" on the carrier. Cost........cheap.......REAL cheap! 5mm in stock form IIRC, maybe larger 6mm depending on PO BS problems/inexperiences, available from many places.........EVEN you local/decent hardware store........if ya know what your looking for.

2: WHAT are you doing, having anyone from ANY autoparts store, getting into the distributor/rotor of your car in the FIRST PLACE? In other words, if I sees this properly........ya gets what ya pay for.

Good luck!!

Don't forget the blue loctite when replacing the screw.

Steve - no PM came through, sorry!

I absolutely did NOT give him permission to get in there!! I had the hood up, and was changing out fuses (It WAS a fuse, which I said it was to him). He followed me, and then decided to get handy, while I had my head under the dashboard.

I have the new distributor cap & rotor already, so I'm just needing that silly machine screw.

Thanks for part #, btw! I'll see what I can come up with.

I Do have some sort of black plastic cover over the distributor cap, which I think is to help protect it. Told Kelly about it, and I think I confused him. There's a notch in it that corresponds with a part on the distributor, so I know it goes on there. Ugly without it, I tell you!

BTW - next time someone tells you, "I guarantee that the distributor cap won't go out on you in an intersection, I promise," I'm going to point & laugh. That's exactly what she did to me, lol. Because the auto part store didn't have the parts in, had to have the car towed just after 36 hours of picking her up.

Well, just parts worn, and everyone thought it would be okay...maybe they didn't look at the metal inside, all scorched and rounded on the button that touches the rotor.

BTW - when most people say rotors, I think BRAKES too, lol.

x2. The time to learn about blue locktite is not when you're heading into turn 1 on Summit Point and when exiting the turn you have no power. Ask me how I know.

GAAAHHHH!!! Steve, glad you're okay - definitely was NOT the time to find out, OMG!!

I've been working Graveyard, so pardon me being here sporadically, and working on a new book to come out.

Porsche wants $5.87 for the damned screw, and said I'd have to wait. Asked him if a 6x12 machine screw would work just as good, and he laughed saying yes.

Getting the machine screw later tonight.
