Default Ebay radar detector help w/ decision

I know that a million threads have been made about radar detectors, I did the search, but everything I found was way too expensive, or I couldn't figure out where to locate one. So I just went on ebay, and I found these two: My first choice
and my second choice
I was just wondering if anyone of you guys have used one of these, I know they are both prolly a PoS, you get what you pay for, right? But I have heard of the RX series detectors before. Or do you have any suggestions for a decent detector for $70 or under?
TIA

Why not pick one up at Wal-Mart so if it is garbage you can return it

Lol, I would go to the Walmart down the street from me, but I absolutely refuse to step foot in that circus. Now that I think of it, I can buy the one on clearance from work for $30 but its an AudioVox, so it probably won't even turn on at all. Maybe I'll just write it off and try it out

They're only cheap until they fail you that first time. V1 is the way to go.

I have to agree - I've been burned by Mr. Escort - Dr. V is the one for me!

my sister has a radar dectector in her 99 grand am.....i think whoever designed it made it so that it just randomly went off. i think they are a waste of money(imo), ive only had 2 speeding tickets in my life, and i used to set the cruise at 90mph+ although the last speeding ticket was 12 points and suspended my license for 6 months..... that was back in '04 sometime...

escort 8500 or V1 are really the only choices for radar detectors in my opinion, and the V1 is my personal favorite

You might want to try and find out what type of radar your local constabularies are using. If it's laser, don't even bother with a detector....

IMHO save your money until you can afford a detector/jammer that will keep you from gettng a laser ticket, instead of a detector that let's you know you have been caught.

Purchasing from the factory gets you a free install card good at any Circuit City.

V1 is amazing, I think everyone in my family has one. How much would a ticket set you back 200-300 ? And you want to spend 30.00? I guess it might be slightly better than nothing, though.

Try a Whistler Pro 53 or 73 I believe. Also a great forum for this stuff is www.radardetector.net . Trust me check out that website for the real deal on detectors. I had a whistler 1753 saved my *** many of times. Bel RX65 are pretty good too. Look at that site to see what a good detector is.

No question about it...Valentine 1 is the bomb!

That think has saved my bacon more than a few times. Well worth the money you will spend. You'll save 10 times the cost in tickets you'll avoid.....Trust me!

From what I've seen Valentine 1 is the best.

I have an plain vanilla detector in the VW and a Valentine V1 in the 951.

I'll be getting rid of the VW's detector just as soon as I can afford another V1.

-Yes, it really IS that much better.
