I know this has been beaten into all of our heads. CHANGE THE BELTS EVERY 30K! I've had my car a year now & have all the recipts dating back to 89. I've got an "adjust and re-tension timing belts" at 105k in 2003. today I sit at 115k on the odo. Is an adjust/re-tension worth a damn to belt life on these cars? Or was the mechanic just blowing sunshine up our @$$?

It's not belt life, it's to avoid bent valves when the belt breaks. A new belt is supposed to be re-tensioned after 1000 - 2000 miles. I do another tension check at 15K on the belt.
