Brian:

Here's the prices on the console recover:
Vinyl $125
Leather $185
Alcantara $195

What the pictures don't really show is how nice the leather is, it just has a different look and, uh, luster than vinyl does.

I think I'm gonna see if somewhere local can do this. I know Rob is great at it and everything, however he doesn't have an early dash, and I'm unable to remove mine at this time... that looks too good to pass up!

I'm thinking early dash in black leather, seats in alcantara centers with leather bolsters, center console in black (or tan) leather. Rob, if you get an early dash, let me know ASAP.

I believe he has an early dash and is working on it in alcantara.

Geoff:

I gotta believe you guys/gals that need an early dash can find one for cheap that you can use for a core. Maybe you can get 3 or 4 of you to go in on it together and then just keep passing your old dash onto the next guy after you replace it.

OT: Geoff, did you get a PM from me about a GTG?

Of the 3 options for material, what is the most durable? If you covered 3 dashes w/ vinyl, leather, and the suede and let them bake in the sun which would last the longest?

*currently looking for a core to recover*

If I were to recover myself how much cracking is too much? Is a good candidate for a recover determined by size of cracks, number of cracks or both?

If you were to recover a dash with many cracks is it just more time consuming than a dash with less cracks, or does it effect the quality of the final product?

The final product looks better than stock!! I just recovered my steering wheel, so the dash and console are next. THANKS FOR THIS OPTION!!

To recover the dash you actually pull the vinyl off to expose the padding underneath. Unfortunately, the cracks typically go into the padding/foam as well. I asked Rob about this and he uses SEM plastic bumer repair to fill the cracks in the foam before putting the covering on.

Click here and go to Page 8 for pics and details

So, to answer the question the more cracks the more work will be involved in filling them in but assuming you can do that then it really shouldn't matter how many you have.

I can't emphasize how helpful Rob M Budd is, I'd drop him a PM and I'm sure he can give you much better information than I can.

As to durability, I'd imagine leather is the least durable of the three. Did I mention I've become the most **** retentive windshield shade user in all of sunny Colorado?

Greg, I did get that PM, and I'll most likely be there!

as for an early dash, I don't have the money right now, but as soon as I do, I'm going to get one from somewhere to ship out...

The early dash cover prototype is still not complete. Its a challange getting the seams right without overdoing it. We've done 3 so far and have run into issues with how it looks and how it fits.
