What was your first DIY project?

My first DIY project for my first 944 was to drop the old broken engine, replace a headgasket, slap on a new timing belt, install the new engine and call it a day (or a week, for that matter).
Then it was to learn to drive manual!

my first DIY project started about 5 hours after buying my car. i blew both spyder gears and i wound up calling my friend and asking him where the tranny was in my car .. i was clueless.. but after some help from a friend at the dealership and 650 bucks later me and my dad dropped the trans and put in a new diff. thankfully she still runs to this day.

Repainting my go-kart (bright red, who could've seen that? ) when I was about 13. Painted the wheels and engine silver. It was a pretty cool kart.
Then I restored my late grandfather's 40-year old Allis-Chalmers garden tractor, with input and help from my dad. Needs to be finished, touched up, and have a good carb adjustment, but it's priceless to me.
Then, as if I didn't want more punishment, I went metric and found the 944. I think job 1 on it was compounding the paint.
