Default People think the darndest things!!!

So my wife and I took the 951 out for a drive last night and we decided to get some ice cream. We stopped and my wife says the guys working here are drooling over the car. I thought wow that never happens, so I went inside and the guy asks "What year is your Car." I tell him 1986 and he says, "Man that thing is nice." Well we order and he asks me a few more things about it, whether it was turbo and such. Well a few times I caught him saying to his friend "dude that is a sweet Ferrari." I just chuckle and then he asks, " What model is it." I tell him 944 Turbo and then he says to his friend, "It's a Ferrari 944 Turbo." I realy start to laugh at this and tell him no it is a Porsche but they both have a horse on the hood. I just thought this was a funny experience. I have never had anyone realy ask about the car much and I have never had anyone mistaken it for a Ferrari. Anyways just thought I would share.

always made me mad when i drove my triumph spitfire past people who would then say nice MG.
i never get anything about my 944na, other then the few "i could beat that in the 1/4" type of remarks.

A few weeks ago some neighborhood kids were selling stuff around the neighborhood, my car was inside the garage and my father was leaving, and both the kids stop as his back end comes near where they are walking in the street and I hear one kid say to the other "I told you so, it's 911 Turbo".

Yeah, I thought I could somehow disconnect the really super crappy factory clamps and blue hydraulic hose from the 20 year old brake fluid reservoir without breaking it too...

I guess people really do think silly things... anyone have a brake fluid reservoir for sale?

I never got the ferrari reference until I saw a (dont remember the exact name) but it was some sort of "daytona" GT B? that was on auction last night, and I could see some similarities.

When I had my red car I got the ferrari remark a few times...

Twice at a toll booth ive had the attendent ask me to "show him what it could do"

People always ask me about the car, its quite fun. The worst though was when i was sitting outside staples with a friend in the car talking.. i hear a guy and a girl talking while walking into staples
guy "Im telling you its a supra"
girl "No its a porsche"
guy "you dont know what your talking about, its a supra"
girl "Whatever, its a porsche"

They had no idea I was in the car. So we decide to go in staples, i see the couple standing there... I looked at the guy and said, "Hey buddy, your girlfriend was right, its a pooooooorshaaaa"

Hahahaha

While at saturday night banquet for Porschefest in Charlotte this weekend, my lady friend / date was wearing a sterling silver horse pendant. Earlier that day, at the Concours, a Ferrari showed up. She kept getting questioned at the banquet if she was the one in the Ferrari.

BTW, thought you might enjoy this pic from the autox Sunday morning...that is if I can get it to work

The auto X was at the Charlotte Merchandise Mart. The host hotel was the Hyatt South Park.

The next Carolina region PCA gimmick rally is titled "drive to drink" and is July 15 which is the same weekend as the SCCA TSD Rally in Danville VA. Tobacco Roads has the sign up form for the PCA rally.

Nice to see all these NC guys. I saw what looked to be a 951 in Brevard NC this past Sunday. I was in mine. It was dark with the phone dials and went into the national forest there.

Some kid at a gas station tried telling me that his integra would beat my 944 turbo. I think thats utterly silly since I destroyed 2 integras at the same time in a straightline with the yellow N/a.

Wish-wash, flummerly and bombast if you ask me.
