Roger, as I disintegrated a rod bearing on my 951 my last time on this run, I'll need your Avalanche to carry a spare motor this time...

The new 911 turbos are so docile that even doctors and lawyers can now drive them. AWD and PSM.

Having a margin for error isn't an excuse to drive fast. As velocity increases, time to react decreases. I believe the speed limit is 35-45mph on those roads - I expect to see you all going no faster.

If I remember correctly he had a strange knocking sound while on Ice House Rd. Sounded like a stuck lifter or "worse". He nursed it all the way back to Santa Rosa, failing oil pressure and all. I think it was both a broken valve spring and toasted #2. The photos were 'ugly' to say the least...I call that good driving to make it 140 miles on a failing RB on a 100 deg. day. Good Job!

attack of the double-post monster!

so- there's nothing that really makes it happen, it could just happen at any time?

or is it when you let your car run low on oil and then keep running it hard?

i think i'm going to change to 15-50 or lower before the run, with 20-50, OP is at 2bar at idle, and a few hairs less than 5 bar at 3k+

never seemed to happen with 15-50.....

I switch to Valvoline Racing VR 20-50W in the Summer. The reformulated Mobile 1/Exxon blend doesn't work for me in hot weather like the old M1 20-50W. What makes it happen? Low oil level, oil starvation on long fast turns, and foaming in the crankcase. The most common reason is because it just wants to fail

Partial tear only, no surgery He did recommend a Beer Nanny though to twist the tops off for me.

BTW: Quit worrying about your car; it's fine! Just keep your oil to the top mark or 'some' say above that mark by 1/2 quart. Foaming is caused primarilly by poor quality oil but all the splashing by the crank can contribute to it. Crank scrapers are supposed to help but 95% of the people don't have a problem with non-tracked cars.

i ALWAYS worry about my car. Erika gets mad sometimes,

"it's OK! you dont need to check it every 5 minutes!"
"but what if a rival ninja clan is defacing my sacred 951 right this very second?! "

yeah, i try not to worry about it, but it just gives me **** to worry about, and i'm always worried of it having a fit at me one day and saying "hey, i dont like you, i feel like starving myself of oil today"

just in case, i think i'll seafoam it and do an oil change before the run.........

edit- good to hear you dont need surgery. this calls for liquor

So we are splitting up into groups, whats why don't we see how many cars we have first, then decide when we meet up off of 50. There is nothing wrong with a long line of cars, at the 969 meets, there are 100+ cars, and we only spilt into 2 groups.

i think that's what we're doing. if i'm not mistaken, the sac group is caravaning into georgetown to meet with everyone else, meet, greet, ****talk, take pictures, discuss route, **** talk some more, make fun of roger, then decide if we need to split up, or if we can run as one.

i dont think steve means split up as in run different times, but split up as in take off in a big line, but that line would stop being "group 1" at say, arash, or someone, then start being "group two" at myself, or someone else.

that is, if i'm reading it correctly.

edit- the 969 drives are crazy, it's like, 100+ cars, then they split up into fast and not-so-fast groups, then they somehow criss-cross halfway through.

and then everyone gets free BBQ.

steve- are you providing free BBQ?

I second that, they are very well planned out. I got an email about another one coming up...

Alright, that sounds good. Hopefully not different run times with all these small groups, otherwise there is no point in going at all.
