Here's another car that might be coming. My son's friend has been building it for over 2 years. He done all his own work including this paint (pre clearcoat) just last month. The car is looking sweet now. It's a 74 German made Capri GT, built Cologne V-6, T-5, and 1900 lbs+/-.

Steve, HOLY S*** man. I LOVE those original camaros. Absolutely, undoubtedly my favorite American car ever. I'd almost give my 968 for one of those. The body styling is just..... so perfect. Beats any Porsche IMO. Any Camaro that came afterwards (1970+) is just ugly. No offense, but I think all the styling juice was used up on the first generation and none was left for the succeeding models.

EDIT: I'm retarded sometimes, that's not even a Camaro. Well it's kinda similar w/o the lights and stuff. Capri, eh? Looks good.

I too look forward to seeing a long line of 944s above everything else, but "you can't always get what you want."

Well as long as we're mixing things up, we might just bring my brother's GTI and see how long we can try to keep up before we lose your dust trail. Or I can bring my TURBO and really show you guys how to break the speed limit.

Great... all we need is a new to porsche 996TT owner who doesn't know his car yet pushing to keep up. Is he bringing his own tow vehicle also?

You must have missed Roger's post above, he's bringin the Avalanche as a tow vehicle Nothing scarier than a TT in the hands of someone who's never owned even a 911. Hopefully he'll just cruise with a slower group to get the feel for the car.

I think the 996TT will do fine. we (Steve, since its his run ) just needs to make a point to remind people that driving beyond their ability will not make them a hero, and to be humble about what their true abilities are. Also a reminder to keep a SAFE following distance, the guy in front of you doesn't think you're Mario Andretti for driving 6" of his ***. If you want by, signal and pass where its safe. If theres no safe place to pass, then drop back. If I brake check you, it means you're too close.

After all that, I have a friend at work who might want to come. He'll either be in an '05 STd or a '69 Chevelle. The STi is his 'slow' car. The Chevelle would probably blow by all of us (996TT included) on Mormon Emegrant Trail.

edited because I type to fast

Why is the testesterone level rising so far on this thread? Would everyone quit posting about blowing off this or that car, who can or can't drive well, and just enjoy the idea of going on a good run. There are many people that like to cruise fast and enjoy the road, some that drive harder but smart; then there are those that talk ****, drive recklessly but go over a cliff or roll over from stupidity. Anyone belonging to the latter group is strongly advised to stay home. We set a spirited pace but seriously folks this isn't Grand Theft Auto

Chris knows what he's doing.

I don't have the guts to push any harder than I can handle, so if the pace gets too hot for me I'll just pull aside, let people pass, and catch up later. On the other hand, if the guy in front of me is going too slow, I stay behind him out of courtesy. He's probably keeping me at a safe pace anyway.

I agree with Steve - let's all relax. Having a bunch of non-Porsches on this run does NOT mean we have to prove or defend anything.

we all "know what we're doing". pro or am, a mistake is all it takes.

i really think steve's just trying to avoid having to put anyone's face on a white t shirt with the words "in memory" over the top.

besides- he's getting old.

Driving fast is ok. You just need to know your car, it's limits, and leave a margin for error. If you leave that margin for error, you can make mistakes all day long. It's when people don't know their car or their their own limits that the accidents happen.

driving fast != driving dangerously

Steve, I have an obligation to smack talk with Roger. We have a bet on the table!!!

But Steve is correct, everyone needs to drive within their limits regardless of how fast/slow others are diving. We had a streak of bad luck in the not to distant past. Let's not repeat that!
