Not to sound like a brand snob but I think a Camaro or Mustang is a bit too far off the intent of this Fun Run. There are so many American car venues for muscle cars that I would prefer to keep this run limited to German and sports cars as stated on the first post. I told a good friend of mine with a well prepped Z28 that wanted to come the same thing just 2 days ago. If I'm the only one that feels this way then I'll shut up and deal with it. I would like to get honest opinions here from those people going without slamming any particular car or driver. Keep it civil please.

having driven an F-body before (i assume that's what this is about), i know that i'd never have the confidence driving one that i do in the 951, or even the 944.

that's just how i feel them to be. i wouldnt be able to do it.

that being said, a good F-body driver can post times that surpass RX7's in auto-x, if they know what they're doing, and have the right suspension mods.

if the camaro can make it, i'm sure we can let him in (and your friend too, steve).

i'd HATE to see a camaro go over a cliff, but seeing as this isnt a race, and that we have a fairly competent caboose ( ) then i personally wouldnt have a problem with a camaro or two.

but that's my .02 USD.

I think there have been times when all of us have had the 944 up on jacks. This is completely understandable. So why would you want to exclude a fellow 944 owner just because they have to drive the back-up car. Yes half the fun is a large line of 944's rolling down the road, but the other half is the friendly conversation/bench racing/tech discussions/putting a face to a name, that occurs during the road side stops and lunch table. I would suggest to keep the 944 rolling line pure, make the off brand vehicles follow at the end of the line. Then at the stops, enjoy the company that is our renn-faternity!

My '96 mustang could deffinately hang with my S2, I don't think a Camaro will have much trouble keeping up. If you're going to exclude pony cars, you'd have to exclude CR, Serge, and the veedub driver. It all depends on where you want to draw the line in the sand. Is this just for 944's, or 944 owners, or Porsche owners, or German car owners, or German vehicle enthusiasts, or car enthusiasts?

I'd for sure like to see more car enthusiasts go, but thats just me. If you want to preserve the coolness of sever '44's in a row, I don't think many would have a problem of us starting out in that lineup.

P.S. think of all the bad Ju-Ju from banning your wasser-pumper bretheren. The horror!

only if they are bringing tamales for everyone!

I'm cool with variety. It makes the parking lot googling more interesting. Everyone already knows what a 944 engine looks like.

Don't take Kuhl's post the wrong way - everyone has their own preferences.

I think the main criterion is that you don't drive like an idiot.

Juan - only if they have at least 4 switches.

Well that's good enough for me. Camaro it is. I'll tell my friend it's OK afterall. I do think with a larger group of cars like this it might be good to stage the cars in maybe 3 groups with everybody being very honest about what skill level they drive. Past experience on these roads tell me that a 15 car log jam is best avoided. The first drop in and out of the American River Canyon is not for the weak of heart.

I contacted a 911 owner that lives down the street from me. he sounds pretty excited about it, and we might just have a new rennlist member.

his name is steve, and he's got an '84 (?) 911 convertible.

fun times!

Only if it has a rock plough and you can clear the road for the rest of us
