Hey guys. I went to my first autocross today - my first time driving somewhere other than a public road. Based on today's experience I think I'll be going to many more of these events, just to become a better driver if nothing else.
Well anyway, there were of course the usual awesome 996 TTs, old school 911s, and boxsters galore. My particular favorites of these were a silver 996 gt2, which I witnessed doing a 3-wheeler, not 15 feet away from me; a yellow 911 Carerra RS 2.7, and a yellow 987.
To stay on topic, I saw a few 944s there. Actually, I was surprised there were so few 944s there. From what I've read in my 2 years of being a member, and how I envisioned autocrosses to be, I expected like at least 5 944s. There were only 2! A goldish 944 NA race car and a silver 944 S2. There were, however, 3 968s. WTF?
Of course I tipped the balance by taking my 968 instead of my 944, but still... There was a red coupe (me), a red cab, and a BEAUTIFUL blueish silver coupe. Come on people, get to the track and represent!![order](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/order.gif)

Here's a link of the photos my bro and I took, and some that Chris sent my bro.

I drew a really rough sketch of what the track looked like. The boxes at the end of the course were more symmetric. I might've exagerated on some of the features too, but hey, it's not like I have a map in front of me to see the exact dimensions.
I had a LOT of fun, even though I kept wiping out. My best time was 116.4xx or so, and my worst was 138.xxx (first run). Besides the first run, I think it was 123.xxx. Not too shabby for a newbie!

Just noticed Arash's post already HAD the link to the pics, heheh.

Roger, my first time (my first race ever) was 1:30.689, and my last (my best) was 1:14.675. Those are unadjusted times. My 968 fell into class AX14. I gotta say, I felt the difference in handling with those almost-dead tires on your 993 wheels. The difference was small, but I noticed. The car responded a little better and squeeled a lot less.
The two highlights of my day: I lost control in one wide turn, and started drifting. I thought I would lose it and slide into a thousand cones, but I accidentally regained control and just went on through the course. I felt like the MAN, but I knew I was just lucky. I don't see what the hype is about... it wasn't that cool. The second highlight was when I tried Chris's technique through a loop, which felt much slower to me, but shaved almost 2 seconds off my time.
Dude, I'm SO going again. I hope you and others can make it. I didn't let my bro drive the NA because it's rear tires are like 10 years old (dry rotting) and I seriously thought the PCA dudes wouldn't let us use the car like that. Don't worry, he had plenty of fun driving my 968 instead.
