Funny Air Conditioning
Hi all
Just noticed something interesting today - my air conditioning in my S2 would be blowing cold air, then all of a sudden a rush of hot air will come out of the vents. One I turn the fan off and turn on the A/C again, all is well. Anyone else experience this or know what could be wrong?
Also, when I have restarted the engine after the driving the car for a while, hot air comes out of the vents. Is this normal?
Thanks, you guys are the best!

In other cars, when the engine is under load, the AC kicks off until engine load is reduced, at which point it kicks back on.
Anything like that on these cars? Or is it a manual thing that you have to do?

If it's a late car it sounds like you might have a vac leak to your damper controller or a failing damper. When load changes there isn't enough vacuum to keep the mixing door closed and warm air will enter. Check those hose connections at the passenger side console and make sure they are tight. Sometimes the blue check valve to your brake booster can get weak and drain off the vac holding the door in a given position. It's an easy check.

Thanks guys - very valuable input
KuHL: I think your right on the money there. I went to get it checked today and the A/C guy I know was explaining the vacuum thing and concluded that the blue check valve (which sits on top of the motor) was probably faulty and was replaced. Was like a 10 min job so that was a relief so hopefully that is problem solved!
