968 door handle upgrade

Speed Demon- Yeah, the spring should be sold seperately & if you're going to use it, it's important to install it correctly... Guess how I know that....?
Kevin- lock cylinders for $204? If that's the price, that's a lot better than I was quoted- It was close to $300 when I asked awhile back- I think that was Sunset- next person to call them should ask- I'm thinking they said $279 for one side & $280 for the other or something... One of those each-side-is-identical-but-different-price things... But then you still have to have it keyed. I assume that's not too bad, but have a feeling it's a lot more than having a regular house door keyed. I mean, it either ways the word "Porsche" or at least has a Porsche part # on it....
Shadow- my old triggers fit fine... you could still use them- sure, they're shorter, but they do work... I was sent one old one & one new one when I bought mine & hooked the old one up first... When I noticed it, I called & they sent me a new 968 one, since I'd already paid & they were only ~$6/ea...
~$200 is ok for all of what Sam had done, as long as paint was included. I got mine done for $125, but that was just mirrors & handles- I don't know how much more the markers would add... But the guy who did mine also charged me $60 or so for one handle, a year later, when I broke it- it didn't add up proportionally, but he had saved me so much money on wheel stuff, etc, that I glady handed him the money. He had said doing a few things wasn't much more than doing just one thing in cases like that b/c of time of set-up, prep, etc... I know NOTHING about painting, so....

Can't help you with the lock cylinder question, but give www.irfanview.com a try for a really easy to use, simple image resizing (and more) program...and best of all it's free!

Speed Demon-
You need the Rosette to cover the outer edge. Take a look at:

What specific car is it & what year...? If it's pre-85.5, it might not fit, but otherwise, it very well should.

Ok, I'm not sure how or why, but your lock cylinder is different- it's much smaller... That's your prob.... MAYBE they changed the size or something in true '86's past the 85.5....? Might try checking PET or calling a dealer to see if there were two model #'s for cylinders for '85 or something...? I'm sorry it worked out this way b/c those cylinders are pricey- of course, you can always buy used & rekey... that might work,..
good luck

Jason is right- I didn't realize there was a "Carrier"- I thought it was all one piece & that your's was different... When I pulled mine from the script handles, they came out as one piece...

What happened to your's? Are they not still sitting in your old handles, or did you buy these somehow? I would think you could even try Sunset, IF you don't already have them (& also assuming no one here does either) & they wouldn't be too bad- the lock cylinder is the pricey part- they're well over $250/ea, so at least it looks like you're ok there- still, this seems a bit weird to me, but I've only done the swap once (well, I've been into it at least 20 times, but it was the same damn car!!!)....
