Default Labor cost?? Help??

Well i recently sold my 951 after almost parting it completely out. The guy is now having the whole car repainted then after wants to resemble everything back together. As some of you already know my block was scored and had some welds on it so i will need a spare block to work with. The guy that bought my car is asking me to resassmble everything back with new parts but i am unsure what labor $$wise i would ask for. Also how much would a shop charge?? we are only talking about labor not even parts. This is what needs to be done
Interior needs to be put back together meaning seats, dash, door panels etc..
Engine everything has to be put back together starting a bare block including clutch etc..
Brake calipers and control arms will need to be put together
tranny will also have to be put back in but still in tact.
What you guys think labor wise $$ Thanks

Didn't the parts from that car go to about 100 different people?

I'd say if he bought it, it's his problem now.

i talked to a shop today he said a remanfacured motor would cost around $6500 and a brand new one would be $26000. So that is not an option

Considering the crankshaft costs around $4k new, I think it would not be wise to put that thing back together with all new parts. A good used motor that's been "refreshed" will give years of reliable service (90% return for 10% effort) as opposed to a new $26k engine. ANY 85.5+ n/a block will work in a turbo. You just have to change out the pistons.

that is what i meant by used parts my bad. Basically take a used motor refreshen up everything then throw it back in the car and buy the other parts that i already sold to complete it.

Yeah right, so when something does not work he can bring it back to you?!
this sounds like a really bad Idea.

Daniel
I would like to give a few words of wisdom. If you build/assemble engine, and car and charge the new owner you may be on the hook for any premature engine failure, etc.
If this guys busts the car one week after you finish rebuild you will be put in a bad spot. I don't question your compitence, but I would NEVER get roped into a deal like that unless he was paying big $$.. like 10K labor big. Too much liability

J

Funny just get back to finish post and two others give same advice great minds they say

I believe book time to rebuild a 944 engine from full assembly, to tear down, to full reassembly is 40 hours book time. Obviously it takes a lot more time to put the engine together, than it does to pull it apart. I think full engine R&R is something like 14 hours. This is off the top of my head, I am out of the office and away from my labor book until thursday.
