Default Took my 931 to the track! Videos.

Yeah, went to the drag track last nite and made 4 runs..

Car performed well, however towards the end of the night with all the starting of the car and shutting it off, my battery killed itself..(I'm sure the fact it was charging at 17+ volts for a month didn't help) I was running 8 pounds of boost the whole nite, except the last run, but I spun then missed second anyways so that run wasn't any better..

Anyways.. My best run was a slow 16.4; with a 2.5 60' I either spun badly or missed a gear..

The track was pretty slick, I couldn't hook up for anything.. My dunlop d60 a2's didn't help my case either...

These are the numbers from the time slips....

man i havent drag raced in years. Never took the porshy to the track cuz it wouldnt be good.

As you can see, it wasn't pretty! I was hoping to run mid-low 15's with a good run, but that didn't happen. June 3rd, I'm going back.. Hopefully with some better results.

You will need a lot to run 15.5s with a 931. I think a 944 on nitrous will probably do 15 or high 14s.

Well flosho - my hat off to you for having the ***** to share your ETs

Few guys been trying to get me any 951 to strip... I keep shying away.
Me + stick car + Drag strip = broken car every time.
Every stick car I have ever taken to drag strip I have broken, shift linkeage, trannies, whatever but always somthing.
I think my right arm grows to about 24" round right before I bang second

My 74 camaro with "supershop" mods did 14.5 at 101 mph on a good day. The car cost me $700 and gave me 2 years of thrashing before I sold it. Believe it or not, changing the spark plugs (10k miles old) made the car go from 15.1 down to 14.5 with nothing else done. Get some high profile sticky drag tires if you are not hooking up. Normally, with a 931, traction is not the problem.

There is a Drag strip near wausau? (My family lives in Rhinelander, next time i'm up that way i'll give you a holla).

Not bad for a 931!

Well, I am not too down on myself with those times, a bit disappointed but, I'm happy I didn't break anything.

The other thing is, I'm sure you noticed I raced a 951 in the video, his best time was a 15.4 or .7 or something. When the car last summer ran a 15 flat with some bad vacuum lines.

You can see my 60 foots are terrible and my tires are rock hard. I would launch and slip the clutch but it would just spin through 1st and I'd shift(when I shoulda been letting off, letting the tires catch then get back on it and shift). I know if I launch hard at all, first gear is useless, I just spin or rip up to redline so quickly.

I really have no doubt that with sticky tires and 10 psi I could be in the mid 15's easily.

Oh ok, yep I know where appleton is. Have a few friends in Rhinelander that where originally from appleton.

carefull - sometimes when you make a car hook (like with stickies) you find the next weakest link. I have actually avoided slicks on some cars because I knew well and good if it hooked to hard it would break

Oh, I agree, I'm not going to be running anything more than an aggressive street tread, probably swing more towards a good auto-x tire, because thats what I want to do more of, just that I also want to make it to the straight track a few times..

From my drag racing days on my custom 6.6 liter 78 Vette, I found out that suspension set up had a lot to do with 1/4 mile performance.

One quickie " suspension tune-up" you could do before your next run is to adjust the front Shocks set at full soft (assuming you have adjustable shocks), this allows the front end to lift under acceleration and transfer vehicle weight to the rear which will let you "hook-up" better.

what does a stop 951 run? i'm surpised that the 951 couldn't get into the 14's when my 924S on nitrous gets 15.11(dont bother yapping about the nitrous...i know i know lol)

951 ran in the 15's? Damn that's horrible. I cut a 13.9 @ 102 a few years ago in mine when it was basically stock.
