all that i could see it doing is wearing the wheel bearings out prematurely.

When I bought my 87 N/A it had early offset 15" Phonedials on it. When I would go around a corner, or go over a bump, then the tire would come into contact with the rear fender.

So the answer from my experience is NO!, you cannot put early offset wheels on a late offset car, without problems.

This is not theory, this is my actual experience.

First of all, Porsche changed the offset for a reason. I doubt Porsche would have spent the money/time to change the offset if they still fit properly.

That being said, it doesn't mean that you can't make them work, it just means you will probably have to modify the fenders. Maybe its simple, maybe its not, I don't know, but others have said that they rub. I like the looks of the early offset Phones over the late offset ones, but it may not be worth the trouble. I'd spend the money on something else.
