Rob, I sent you a PM with an offer of an early 944 dash. I have one in good repair growing dust in my basement. I'd be thrilled to send it your way...
Hope to hear from you.

You guys have been great!

Due to the foresight shared by many classic Porsche owners, there's an abundance of spare dashes that have been waiting for just this opportunity. I've got offers for air bag dashes and an early model.

I sent responses and think the air bag and early models will have a leather and vinyl recover option with a few weeks.

The 944 late mode sans air bag, is available now. If you interested, let me know the material (vinyl or leather) and color I'll send payment information.

Rennlisters 179 for vinyl and 289 for leather with $8.00 USA shipping

Rob,
To install your new dash cover, do you recommend removing the original dash, peeling of the original cover and then installing yours or is the install done with the original dash still in place? Also, are the pictures in the first post leather and if so do you have any pictures in Porsche vinyl? Any thoughts on whether the which replacment skin would hold up better?

The pictures of your dash are beautiful. Even though I don't need one now, I'm tempted to buy one and shelf it for the day that I do.

Is it possible to get the stitching in a different color? Might make a very nice accent (e.g. red piping & stitching in a red-on-black car, etc.) Would do a lot to modernize the look. Awesome work though.

Finally, a REAL solution instead of crappy plastic dash covers. . . Bless you!

Thanks very much.

Yes. The dash must be out of the car and the old vinyl comes off easily.
The one pictured is Porsche vinyl.
Vinyl will hold up better. Leather looks better but requires care.

Rob,
The original Porsche leather dashes had the leather on the bottom half only and it was stitched on the corners. I know you said you would include a flat pice for the bottom. Any thoughts to making stitched pieces to follow the design of the original?

Awesome product by the way!

Yes I can do that. All I would need is a picture of the stitched pieces

Alright Rob here is the million dollar idea, and I will give it to you for free
Buy one of the dash covers- Coverlay is who I recommend.
Then build this around that concept.
I love the stitching.

Who has an original leather dash so they can post some pictures of the bottom stitched part?

Schwank(Eric S), don't you have a leather dash in your car?

Please keep this updated with 968 airbag dash info. I believe it is the same as 944 airbag dash.

Wow, awesome work Rob! I take it you already have an early dash to work with?

I'll definitely be up for one (in 924 brown, of course)... also need to cross-post this over at 924board.org, there's even more trashed early dashes over there. Email me when you have a link to pics of an early dash (or maybe we can even work something with the late dash, if pre-orders would help), I'll post it up...

I've got one person committed to sending an early dash and one for the air bag dash. Hopefully they will be here next week.
It'll take about a week to get the early one designed and put together.
The air bag may take longer. I'll be consulting with an auto interior design firm that's a contactor with the Big 3 here in Detroit to make sure all the air bag safety issues are addressed before and after I do my thing.
Its more money and time in the short term on my end but I want to be sure its done right.

I'll have a price on the early model within a few days of receiving the dash. That should be the week of the May 22.

It'd be better to hold off on the pre orders for both the early one and the air bag version until I have it all done.

I thought of using a coverlay as a base, but one issue is temperature. Each layer expands and contracts at different rates which leads to warping and cracking. So I'm trying to eliminate layers. With only the metal substrate, foam and then vinyl or leather there's less chance of failure due to temperature changes.
