Default Front end Bra

Just want to see who has a bra on their 944? I really want to get on to protect my front end and mirrors from paint chips, but don't know which brand to buy. I want the best fit possible. Any advise would be great.

you may want to look into a 3m or equivalent clear bra if you want to leave it on all the time, personally i hate the look of bras but they are good for long trips and winter.

Remember that bras can cause as much damage as open exposure. Moisture and particulate matter gets under there and can cause some dandy paint damage. Remember to take it off and clean under it regularly.

I don't really like bras so I'm being biased, too.

I rarely use my car, but when I do I want a bra on it for protection. I wash and hand wax my car every week regardless, so I will only have the bra on when I take it out.

I have a Colgan Custom bra that the PO gave to me. I don't bother putting on.I just don't find it worthwhile to protect a damaged surface, and at the same time having to take the bra off every time I expect the car to see rain or a wash.

It does have attached covers for the headlights, which looks like a plus. Wish the PO had bothered to use it.

Ok, since the leather bra isn't so popular anymore, does anyone have the clear bra by a 3m like company. I see Paragon has pre-cut for the 944 turbo, looks good, just worried about it yellowing.

Personally I WOULDN'T GET BRA

the previous owner of my 86' Turbo had a bra on the car and when he took it off there was a pretty noticable difference in color where the bra used to be at....

i hope this helps

I bought the pre-cut kit clear kit from www.invinca-shield.com, have yet to fit it on, waiting for time and a nice clear day.

careful which kit you buy, I could only get the standard kit (front top of car), not the deluxe (top and bumpers)- as US and Australian bumpers differ quite a bit (no kits supplied here, would have to cut myself).

Any one got pics with a clear shield installed?

thats another reason for holding off - what WILL it look like? I am comparing it to the clear stone guards, behind the doors, which you can see quite noticeably and dont wont to fudge up the front end with some plastic stickons

but having said that, its a catch-22, as the stone chips look damn ugly too!

The PO had a 3M clear bra installed over the entire front of my car. You cant even tell theres one on there unless you are looking for it. It covers the lower six inches of the hood, front bumper and header panel.

I have a bra that I will be putting on for my upcoming trip. They are great, but only for trips. I only use mine when I am going to be driving for a while and then once I get to my destination I remove it if I see rain coming. Don't let others scare you, I am the same way about my car as you are. If you keep the bra clean and the car clean there is no issues using one.

The clear bra by far is the best way to go assuming you have chip free paint to begin with. The Original owner of my 94 turbo installed it on the car when new and I replaced it about 2 years ago. It was amazing to see how clean the paint was after all these years and miles. Nothing like a 12 year old car with all original paint and no rock chips.

The down side of clear bra is the initial cost about $400-$800 depending what you have done. A removal bra is much cheaper and can be used as needed.

If anyone is interested I have a very nice bra that came with the car I just purchased I will be selling. It has something I have never seen before, a Porsche crest affixed to it which sits directly over the crest on the car. This bra is for the turbo bumper, there is some fading of the edges on the headlight covers but otherwise it is in excellent shape.

If anyone is interested PM me.
