No, not his. He has the Kalahari '86. I bought this one because of it's uniqueness and to have as a spare.

Yep, definitely instant hatred. I've got an '83, and the dash was cracked to hell, but I don't have a garage, so I wasn't about to replace it and watch it crack in a year or so. so I've got one of those damned Coverking carpet covers... It's not bad, but it doesn't hold a candle to what you've got there.

Is that area around the shifter carpeted? My 944's got a wood trim kit, so I've not seen the stock...

Yes, stock has carpet around the shifter.

All of these great looking dash's, im happy to say my '87 came with a perfect dash..however i have a few tiny cracks starting to form. Ive been giving it pretty liberal sprayings of Vinylex the last couple weeks and started using a sunshade this past summer. Hopefully nothing more develops or spreads.

Why not spoil this thread with a restoration project im working on with a friend. This is an early '85 car that needs a bit of help and some rewiring due to a short somewhere in the ignition switch.

We have a perfect recovered dash we are going to put in, but first we need to figure out what caused the short, and scorched a couple of wires leading to the headlight switch, ignition switch and gas/temp gauge. The old dash came out today..and hopefully we figure out what the problem is.

Nice to see perfect dashes. Mine was that way until last year and then it developed a small crack or two at one of the vents. It's not like it sits in the sun all day either. I guess as the dash ages cracks are a reality.

just make sure you clean it often. you gotta keep it moist. drawback to that as I've noticed is that dust always forms on it and looks rather disgusting.

As long as the crankcase, balljoints, and tires aren't cracked, I'm good to go

Who has no cracks in their windshield, foglights, turn signals, and front spoiler? More places cracks aren't welcome.
