Default Stock Alternator output?

I've got an 87 924, it will eventually be getting treated to a stereo. What is the stock output of the alt for my car? If it is inadequate I wil have to get my spare one re-wound for higher amperage.

I believe the 924s used the late alternator which was rated at 130... If I am wrong though, it was the early which was around 80-90.

I think the early alternators were 90 but the later ones were only 115-120. I don't remember seeing 130amp.

humm.. I thought for sure they were 130s. I could (most likely) be wrong though.

Either way, it will have plenty of juice for almost any stereo you put together.
I had a 70 amp alternator on my 69 VW and it was plenty of juice for my stereo..

Sony Xplod 6.5s in the doors, 2 pairs of Xplod 6x9s in the rear running on a sony 400w max amp (80w continous per channel) and two infinity 1232 subs powered by an Xplod 1200w max 2channel amp (250 continous per channel).

you shouldn't have any problems, just make sure the ground is a gooooood ground. i fried my rear hatch release because of my system. remember the one i told you about? 4 10" subs, 2 amps alpine/audiobahn, but do get a nice capacitor, i ran a 1.5 farad and it worked great.

Well, 130-125 amps.. that makes me feel better, I figured they would be 50-60 amps... Though I have a feeling that I've got the early version because if i trun on the A/C the headlights almost turn off.

I guess my first system plan was going to need around 250 amps at peak draw, this one is going to be about 90-125 at peak, all equipment included (if I even need to push it that far) but still, getting the full 14.4v is essential to getting aftermarket equipment to run right.

Thanks for the help! I'll for sure be posting an entire worklog soon. I'm kind of torn between 1 8" sub or 3 12" JL W6 subs on 500wrms (bass or race? lol). First I have to fix all my leaks though, MDF loves water- in a bad way.
