How hard is it to replace just 1 valve on the head? When we pulled my head off it looked like it was just rebuilt. It also has all new seals on it. Id rather just replace 1 valve (if it is a burnt valve) than replace the whole head. Is it hard to replace just 1 valve?

Rent/ get a valve spring compressor. Once you pull the head, it's a piece of cake (if you have the compressor). You use the compressor to squeeze the valve spring down. Take the little keepers off, and remove tension on the compressor. Take the springs off, and tap the valve stem. It should slide out as if it was going to enter the combustion chamber.
You'll need the compressor again to get the new valve in, and while you have one, you might as well redo the seals in all 8 valves.

I dont have any pictures yet. The 3rd cylinder has 0psi though, I think its a burnt valve. The valve seals are pretty new on all 8 valves. Around 4000 miles on them.

If I were you I would ship it off to andy and have him give it a once over. It should only cost you $35 shipping in each direction which is WAY cheaper than any shop or buying/renting the right tools. Oh did I mention that you will have the assurance that you will be getting it done correctly the first time?

Go the DIY way. Compared to pulling the head, it's almost fun. This is all you need:

For a whole $10-20 + the valve, I don't think you could go wrong. Best part of the deal- eBay the tool when you're done and sure that you won't be needing it, you'll make most of your money back.

valve seals only keep oil from getting into the combustion chamber. If they burn it melts the area where the valve seats into the head and then leaks compression. If it has a burnt valve, compress the spring, pull the keepers, replace- lap in the new valve w/ some valve grinding compound by hand and reassemble. Not too bad.

I think im just going to end up replacing the valve. I dont know what the old head needs. Ill have to see when the heads are side by side however.

Way easier replacing the valve instead of the head. Lapping compound is cheap - i can afford it
sucks that crap like this seems to happen more to us younger porsche owners...
