That overly dramatic drag race show Pinks will be featuring a 1979 924 versus a GMC Safari minivan tonight, that's right a minivan. I hope the Porsche wins for the love of god.

It is on the Speedchannel at 9pm EST.
I hate to say it, but stock to stock, the Safari with the 4.3 Vortec will probably beat the 924. I have had minivans pull on me many times in my 83 944. Im guessing they are not stock though.

OK just saw the commercial for the episode. Looks to be a 10 second van. ANd it looks like it must have beat the 924 because they are looking in the stands for another competitor.

Hmm,
Not sure who would be real winner here.
924 wins and you get a GM Mini-van.
Minivan wins and he gets an old $1500 924. Now winning a Porsche sounds cool, but maybe this 924 is a POS and owner just want to have someone take it away from him.

you want to go into what math is gonna take a 6k pound box with 190hp and beat a 125hp aerodynamic 2400lb car down a drag strip if they are stock for stock?
let alone your 944? i thought you have the convertable 325 that is as fast as M3s

Do remember on Pinks you negociate for various car lengths head start. Thus you can have a 924 go head to head with a 996 TT and still have the 924 win if owner has his stratagy down.

I have a 328i convertible with some mods that I can run as fast as most people that drive M3s, but what does that have to do with a minivan beating my 944? I had a Ferd Windfall pull on me getting on the interstate a week or so ago. The 4.3 has a ton of torque and if he hooks up well a stock 924 will have a hard time beating him.
All this is just banter because it looks like the Van is a 10 second vehicle.
