Dan - great to hear that the boost comes on smoother now. I assume it was a result of getting rid of that soggy middle range.

I second Dan's assessment of the dyno. There is no way you could do as effective of a job trying to datalog and correct on the road. The guys were very professional and were very particular about getting the fuel curve as good sa possible. Even after Dan said he was satisfied, they kept at it.

One other quick note was that the guy said he like the SMT6 better than the Mafterburner. He said it had more resolution and was easier to zero in on the zones that needed to be adjusted.

Very impressive. I shouldn't have watched the video. Makes my 2.5na feel like a 12 horse power Briggs and Stratton.

Gator;

So I take it you won't be in the Novice run group for the Fest.

That is interesting to know about the Mafterburner vs. the SMT6. I have both and am trying to decide which to use on the 86 turbo. Do you have a wideband installed on the car?

Scott, I can't steal the nickname "gator", that one is already in use.. but I'm guessing you are talking to me.

Yes, she has Lindsey's AEM Wideband gauge with the Bosch sensor. It was spendy but a great tool. I won't be in the novice group, but that has more to do with my PCA driving instructor status than my big HP. I shudder at the thought of a rookie on the track with this kind of power, it is going to be a handful for a veteran!

You do realise of course that I will insist on at least a small ride in her! Maybe just sit still whilst you rev the engine! Just riding on the freeway with Kevin in LA last year scared the living **** out of me!LOL
And when I can get a 20mb video to download in a "minute or so" I'll give you a call!

If a guy is going to travel half way around the world to attend my event, you can bet your **** I'll give you a ride. You can expect VIP status for the dedication you are displaying. I have not checked my globe lately, but I'd think someone would have to come from a different PLANET to travel farther than you are going to do. I take it as the most sincere compliment that my event is "globe circumnavigation worthy". Beat THAT!

Hi,
Obviously I notice that most of you are in Northern OH and I'm a relatively new 944 owner and I'm looking for a pcar mechanic anywhere in NE OH, preferably in the Cleveland-Akron area but I'll take anything from Sandusky to Y-town.
Thanks

ATR, You have a few choices, probably depending on your location. Autobahn Extremeist (SP?) in Rocky River owned by Chris Moore do my tough jobs. Eric Steinel at Steinel's Autowerks in Twinsburg (IIRC) is very much a 944/951 ace. One of these two will do the job. If you do go to Chris, tell him Dan P/944Fest sent you. (I'm in NH visiting Cuz and using his PC)

Steinel's Autowerks. One of the best Porsche only shops around, and one of the top 944 shops in the country. Just be very clear with them on what you want done, and that they should not do anything else without verbal authorizatoin. Also be very careful of the "while we're in there" up-selling. That said, they know the cars inside and out, and do good work.

Yea, I deal with Steinels as well, VERY pleased. They do all kind of work from regular maintence to full blown race cars and everything in between. I know a couple of the Akron guys with 944's and 911's go there as well. Where about do you live if you don't mind me asking? Manning and I are in Akron (West side like 2 mins from each other) then the Cleveland guys as well.

I had my engine rebuilt at Steinels. Top and bottom end. ($5,500!!!) that was over four years ago. it is still running strong.
