Default 944 n/a mechanic near San Mateo?

Does anyone know of a good (but not over priced) 944 mechanic in the bay area? Preferably near the San Mateo area. The 944 isn't running so it's going to have to be towed there.

Money is an issue. Much appreciated.

Nobody familiar with any good shops around here? I figure there has to be at least one that's closer than SF.

I don't really have much money but I figure there can't be too much wrong unless I fudged up the rebuild somehow. If that ends up being the case I will be very unhappy.

Had a few bent valves so I had the head rebuilt and new water pump as well as a few other things. Basically it turns over, albeit weakly, but won't start.

Did you also plug back all the wires, specifically the one going into the throttle control at the air filter box? It sounds like everything might be fine, just check all your plugs again.

Honestly I'm done trying to fix it myself. I've been tinkering with it for the past 5 years on and off and I just want to drive the damn car now. I'm sick of it.

How much do some of the cheaper shops charge/hr? One place I looked was 128/hr and I cannot afford that.

I am not sure what other shops will cost because I DIY for all my cars and only pay for the very specialized work. Go to Devek.net and ask for their rates.

To tell you the truth, if you don't want to take it to the 76 station down the street, you're not going to have much luck finding anyone under $100/hr, especially a Porsche specialty shop.

Give DEVEK a call, we don't do flat rate (charge actual time it takes to fix the car), and the technicians there on average have 10-15 years of Porsche experience.

The number is 650.369.3383.
