Hi. I'm about to put together my 968 mirror kit from Sunset, and I'm using the 951motorsports.com instruction. There is one thing I'm unsure of. On the mirror bolt that has the spring on it, which way do the washers go?
Obviously the larger washer goes on the larger side. The larger washer has a flat side and a conCAVE side. So does the larger washer cup the spring or does it cup the head of the bolt?
The smaller washer has a larger side and a smaller side... /====\ Which side is supposed to touch the spring? Thanks in advance!

Wow, you actually have to put that thing together? I have my 968 mirrors dissasembled at the moment but, the bolt is still together. Unfortunatly they are about 30min away otherwise I'd go check for you.

Quoting myself here...
"There are two black washers, a spring, and the mirror bolt. Place the large washer over the top of the mirror bolt (hint – it will not fit over the bottom). The washer is “shaped” and the tapered side goes up. Next install the spring over the mirror bolt, followed by the final black washer."

Hi Icat. Those instructions are really helpful. That quote is the one thing I'm still unsure of. I was actually going to quote it in my question. Which sides of both washers touch the spring. The large washer has a flat side and a concave side. The smaller washer has a large side and a small side. By "tapered" I am guessing you mean the concave/indented side. Maybe I should just try putting it together and see if it works... Thanks!

To be honest, it's been years since I actually did the procedure and - well, I'm older and have CRS disease (Can't Remember ****).
But, that's why I write things down...
The tapered side fits into the spring.
