Specifically a late 70's 924 in decent shape. How much can it be parted out for do you think? Is it not even worth it?

I agree, I'm just talking book value and market value. My 944s are worth more to me than any insurer or than I'd ever get for 'em on the market. On one hand a good situation to be in, on the other a very bad one.

Sorry, meant no offense. I'm strictly talking economics and market demand here. Would I buy a good 924? Sure. I actually owned one for a while (POS though so I sold it), but a good specimen would be nice.
Personally I don't buy into the whole "cars-as-an-investment" thing anyway, I simply expect to lose money on them (you always will whether you buy new, used, lease, finance or buy cash, whatever). The system is deliberately designed to promote wanton consumption of new vehicles - that's it. As such and coupled by the fact that the 924 does look kind of dated and is a mishmash of Audi/VW/Porsche parts it doesn't have the specialty niche/collectable value that say a 911 would.
Thems just the facts - sorry it bugs you.

Not bugged at all.. nor harm taken. I didnt expect to see PORSCHE BASHING at 9 am on a thursday.
I happen love my 924, loved my 944's, they are gone and the 924S stayed.
I know- It's me, I aint right in the head
.
Cars you drive are not an investment (unless you can AFFORD to play that game)

actually you are right in the head Chris. you get the best of both worlds in that 924S you got there, the 944 engine with the 88's compression and less weight! really the 944 guys should be jealous of guys like you and me!
