I have a 924 and I purchased a 944 hand brake because the one I have in the car now, will work if I pull on it, but it doesn't stay locked.
I went to install the 944 handle, but the bolts wont line up because there isn't enough slack in the parking brake cable. So when I try to line the bolt holes up, it pulls the cable tight and engages the brake when its in the down position. Is there a way to adjust this cable?
I mean the actual parking brake works well and will stop the car, but it doesn't sit in the upright position, I don't believe I need to adjust the shoes, just the cable to give it some extra slack.
I tried a search but everyone just said adjust the brakes not the cable, but my brakes are already adjusted..
Thanks
Jason

Look at where the cable comes into the yoke. You should see a 13mm nut and a 10mm nut. Use these to put some slack in the cable.
The proper adjustment is to have the brake handle up 3 clicks and not be able to turn the rear wheels. Of course you need to put the car on jackstands to do this properly.
