Default AFM question

I have a very bizarre idea, but before I decide if it's practical or not, I need to know are the N/A and turbo AFM's the same size?
That is, could I bolt a N/A AFM in where my turbo AFM is? (I know the signal will be all wrong, and about the early/late voltage differences, I am just asking about size)

Also, while I'm asking this, what size is the outlet of the AFM? (diameter)

Not the same size...I have thought along those lines as well
I took some picts and measurements, but it was several years ago...I will see if I can find them.

In the mean time.

Hmm, have you really thought along the same lines as me?...
*cough* *cough* *co-MAF mounted in the stock AFM housing with the signal converter mounted under the electronics cap on top-ugh*...

Man, I must have a bad cold
I don't want to get into details, but I am aiming to make a 100% stock looking MAF conversion. No I will not be selling these, and please don't start a group buy or anything. I have no intentions of competing with the already well established vendors around here, I just want to make something for myself.
I have a spare AFM from an 83, and I was hoping it would be the same as the one in my 951. I guess it's not.
I guess I need to buy a used (preferably bad) 951 AFM to pull apart. I don't have the cash for this project for another month, but I am in the planning stage right now.

Nope. Just along the same lines of AFM(44vs51) size.....and maybe a few of your other points

Good luck.

Zero, I have a 951 AFM that I dissected to extract the temp sensor. It's not mutilated, just taken apart. If you want it, let me know. Cool project.

Very interested if you will let it go cheap
I need a bit of time to come up with any money at all, but I am interested.
Thanks for the offer!

I have seen the temperature-resistance graph for the AFM's, so if I decide I need a temp sensor I can buy another.

I think they are the same size. When I bought my S2, it had a turbo AFM installed. I was told that the turbo AFM yields more gas into the engine thus producing more power. That AFM did work for a while (and I was happy w/ the performance) before I started to have stalling problem; then I switched it to a S2 AFM. I am not sure the stalling problem has anything to do w/ the turbo AFM not compatible w/ S2 engine or simply because that AFM was malfunctioning. I suspect my ECU was modified too (It's a 89 S2 ECU and my car is a 91 S2), because the performance chips I bought (one Promax and two from eBay) could never work in this ECU. I had to send my stock chip to Promax and have them custom made a chip in order to have it work in my ECU. Has anyone ever had problems w/ perfromace chips not working in their ECUs?

Maybe they are the same size for turbo-s2, but I have an 83 n/a AFM, and hosrom doesn't think they are the same size.
Plus, I'll be getting a correct one now
