Full boost only with huge load.
After one year of working on and off I got my engine rebuilt, in my car, and running... she is a viper eater now. I was driving around this weekend (no power steering and no balance shafts ) was shifting around 3000 rpm heard a loud snap while seeing ~10 psi boost. Turns out the I blew the old blow off valve I had installed. I replaced it with a another older one a friend had handy bosch #102, and it seems to work the same way as with the bad BOV. Now, the only way I see full boost is to keep the engine at 3000-3500 rpm and stand on the brake pedal. I needed to clean the rust off the rotors. I am a novice when it comes to turbo engines, and cannot find anything else wrong, so could this be caused from too weak of blow off valve recirculating too much air? How do I size a blow off valve since my engine is not stock? btw: my engine is a NA with a turbo, and that is not the problem as it runs perfectly just I am not seeing the boost I should be.
Thanks,
SCular

Yes. It saw 20 somewhat psi when the wastegate hose came off prior to spliting a cylinder and my building of this engine. I have everything set now, so I should get 7-10 psi. I just barely see 7 psi when power braking.
Can the BOV cause this sort of an issue?
