Hi everyone,
I will be replacing the radio in my car this weekend. Currently, I have a two channel aftermarket radio in which I will be replacing with a radio bartered from a friend, a Pioneer DEH-P3600 in case you are interested.
I have read Clark's replacement guide, a replacement guide on Pelican Parts, and the Kevin Gross FAQ.
Here's the question.
Do you have to remove the center console in order to replace the radio?
Everything that I have read seems to gloss over this.
Thanks,
Will

No -- I recently installed a similar Pioneer radio. It can be done with the center console in place -- just remove the cubby hole.
However, if the existing wires have been hacked up, you might find it easier with the center consoler removed (we're talking only ten screws here).

I found it worth the price to have a custom fit wiring harnass made...then again, I hate electrics. I can figure out the speakers but if you put the hot wire in the wrong place....toast.

There's actually a surprising amount of room in there when you remove the cubby and since the radio actually slides into tracks that are in the center console you almost have to leave the console in to attach the wiring.

Thanks guys.
Started: 6:45 PM EST
Finished: 9:45 PM EST
It was a jungle in there wires everywhere, plenty of electical tape, used the wiring diagram for the old radio to wire the new one.
It still doesn't look complete yet because I am missing the plastic bracket that surrounds the unit.
Thanks,
Will
