Default HELP! - no start - it got worse

Need some help on this one guys/gals thanks!

83 Just decided not to start...

It cranks over ok
No spark
No power to coil - 0.0mv at no key - .10 mv when cranking
No juice at the injectors - cranking over or not
Tach doesn't bounce at all when cranking
Tested speed & ref sensors per clark's garage - they are ok - except the connectors both crumbled, so they're on order.
Changed DME relay
Changed DME
I don't hear the fuel pump when the key is in the 2nd position, I think it used to and it should, but I need a sanity check!!
I get great fuel pressure at the rail only when I crank it over, should I get pressure when the key is in the 2nd pos?

This one's got me stumped, I can't figure it out?!?!

yep, sounds like exactly what my 83 944 was doing, same exact symptoms, same things worked/didnt work. Turned out to be a bad reference sensor. Should start right up when you get new connectors. If not, most likely a bad sensor. You can use an oscillascope (spelling?) to check for proper operation. Because when checking the sensors with a multimeter mistakes can be made easily. So yeah I would definitely put my lunch money on one/both of the sensors, or the connectors for them are causing the problem. Good luck!

Hey just thought I would offer a tip on removing the sensors, if you end up doing that. DO NOT just grab it with vice grips and yank on it or twist with all your might. You will likely snap off the sensor in the bell housing and have a whole nother mess on your hands. What I did, whicch took the better part of an hour, and made my arm numb by the time it was out, was hit it with some 3 in 1 penetrating spray, not unlike WD-40, and stuck my arm down there, twisted and pulled for a looong time until finally, out popped the sensor. Patience is key here.

Do you have the factory alarm? It has a lock in the fender behind the door. Problem might lie there.

Had the exact problem on my Audi actually , checked it with the oscilloscope and no square wave on the hall efect sensor on the cam ... I think you are on the right track .. on the Audi it was intermitent and the strange thing is once the car starts if it fails the car will not stop , just goes to a facory " limp home spec " but if it is bad it will never start .. amazing what ya learn ..

I appreciate the tips guys!. I've got no factory alarm to worry about here, thankfully. If there's one thing i've learned with this car...leave your hammer in the toolbox!!
