Default Removing Bumper Pads

I was thinking about removing the front bumper pads on my 85 NA and went ahead and unbolted one to see what it looked like under there. Aside from doing away with two bracket mounting nuts and filling in the two slots, those of you who've done this; what did you do about the rough opening where the end of the (signal light side) rubber was? It doesn't look very good and I see no easy way to improve the appearance.

someone just jb welded and piece of sheet metal in there and bondoed, sanded and painted. I just did this mod and have to do the same. I may leave the openings in there for extra fresh air coming into the engine bay or may run a duct to the brakes for cooling.

my suggestion for jb weld was to fill the holes. I think jb welding up large areas would be a bad idea. Get a euro bumper, find someone with a tig welder to fix it right or put the pads back on IMHO.

I would like to get a euro bumper but they are hard to come by... Does the euro bumper use different shocks? I'm not too keen on filling the gap in with something home made either... the pad went back on.
