looking to get a set of cup 3 wheels for a 84 944 n/a
they are 17" 7.5 up front and 9" in the back.
my question is what size rubber would work best for my situation?
Im a enthusiastic daily driver and im looking to get into autocross.
i would also be looking to change the suspension set up for a stiffer spring up front so i would not want anything thats going to rub.
I have been looking around here on rennlist and have not found anyone posting limits to tire width up front. So i was thinking of 235/40/17 on the front and a 255/40/17 out back. Like i said i am very new and excited about getting my first porsche. First time posting , and im looking forward to getting involved in rennlist board.
thanx

First, welcome to Rennlist.
There can be a lot a variations of tire size between manufacturers so always look at their recommendations for the size wheel you are using. Since you have an '86, be sure to look into any spacers that may be needed.
That being said, the most common sizes for your rims are 225/45 and 255/40. www.tirerack.com has excellent data on a variety of brands and types of tires and is a great place to start shopping.
