Pinhole in fuel line

I found a pinhole the the fuel line that is on the engine side of the fuel filter, that runs over the transmisson-on an automatic 924S.(1987.) Was curious if there is any way to put a barbed fitting with two hoseclamps to splice this, or will it be unable to hold the pressure. Since it is a pinhole and directly in the center of the line, id like to try and fix it before i get a new one.
also, if i do want to instal a new one, do i Need to remove the transmission to install it. It appears to run over the transmission.
thanks,
keith

Yes. I did this as a temp fix on the supply line under the hood several years ago and it worked just fine for much longer than temporary. BUT, if it is developing leaks now you better just replace it because it will surely develope more.

IMO, Dont even try it, that line is high pressure. I tried that fix on my 924S and the line just ruptured in a different place and sprayed a ton of fuel out which created a very dangerouse situation. The hole indicates that the line is at the end of its life and repairing it is playin russian roulet that it wont rupture and cause a huge fire.

Whatever you do, don't drive the car if its still leaking. My car caught on fire because of a leaky fuel hose. You probably know that, but its worth saying if it keeps your car from blowing up.

i tlaked to someone.. and they said that if i get 2 hose clamps, and a barbed connecter.. it can hold up to 90 PSI, annd should work fine.. I think im going to attempt the ghetto fix for now, because i just did the dampner job and all that, and havnt put 1 mile on it yet.. I wana see if something ele is going to break before i redo the fuel lines.

Dude, the issue isn't whether or not the hose will stay on the barbed connector, it is whether or not other leaks will spring up in the remaining hose after you attempt the fix. I know as a fact the connector and proper hose clamps will hold, but I can only imagine how many more leaks will devolpe simply from manhandling the hose to facilitate the initial repair.

yea well see.. i just dont feel like fixin that good.. then takign it out to test drive the dampner i just put in, and have that break or something agian.. then i would be wasting my money and time to buy and install the new one.. i just wana drive the thing a few miles first to see that im accualyl gona be using it, instead of having it sit on jacks like the past 4 months.
ill let you guys know what happens when i do it tomarrow.
but when i do go to repair this with a new one.. does any one know if i have to take the transmission out or not to install it. If i do, that sucks, cause i just had it out to do the dampner.. I have such bad luck with this car =(
