Heres my problem, I was sitting outside in my car and it has been idling for like 10-15minutes when i hear this loud bang then i hear my antifreeze leak out of somewhere and then steam like a **** emerges from my hood. Anyone have any ideas if i blew my headgasket or just blew a hose? When i heard the loud bang i checked my gagues and everything seemed normal and my car didnt shutter at all...please help me i dont want to take it to a mechanic if i can fix it myself!

Well we are missing alot of information.
Check the hoses and see if they are leakings or blown off the inlet / outlets of the waterpump, radiator or ontop of the block. Steam from under the hood leads me to believe a coolant hose is leaking and spraying high pressure coolant onto something hot, where it is burning off.
Check your dipstick for signs of a milkshake (coolant and oil mixture). Take the coolant tank cap off and see if the coolant has mixed with oil. Another sign is huge amounts of white smoke from the exhaust.

well there is no more coolant left, it looked like it sprayed but i cant figure out from which direction, i noticed it was steaming alot from the back of the engine,Buti could have sworn there are no radiator hoses back there. It is dark at the moment so i couldnt see exactly what happened, i need to get it home and take another look in the morning. i was just curious because of how the spraying got ontop of my engine. I didnt see any smoke out of the exhaust just the hood.

You do have hoses back there. Check your Heater control valve. I had that happen once. This is a symptom of something more serious. Heater control valves and / or hoses do not just spontaneously burst. Run a leakdown test to check your head gasket.

I have had problems with my heater not getting warm very fast, takes like 20-30mins for it to get warm. It is wierd that the hose broke also, my temp was sitting in the middle of the top and bottom line so thats why i was all worried that it could be something else.

I have to bring this up because I see it a lot here, but a shutter is something on the side of a window or in a camera, and a shudder is a noise or motion an engine might make. The two words are not interchangeable. Thanks!

Kenne944. I love ya for posting. You don't have much experience with cars in general at all.......do ya? Don't panic when these kinda things happen. NEVER assume the "worst". Things "happen". Sometimes they are easy, simple fixes, sometimes not. Take a deep breath, don't overreact, and take a looky peek........first. Then.......panic.
