There's been an 87 NA parked on my street w/ a 'for sale' sign. It is super clean, gold (not Kalahari) has the dark brown leather Sport Seats, polished D-90's, and 112K miles...he's asking $8700. I hate to burst his bubble but that is way too high IMO.

He's at least $4,000 too high. Late NA's can be had down here in So Cal for 2000-4000. My '88 was 2500. Sport seats (in good shape) and D90's may get another grand or so, but even with that he's well into "dreamland".

No no, we have to start adopting this new trend of high 944 prices, so it might catch on. We as 944 owners have an obligation to inflate the value of our own cars, I think!

Believe it or not.... 944's that are in like new shape are nearly impossible to find. If you do find one.. it's worth it to a lot of people.

Well I'm not calling for a retarded amount of inflation, but at least that we sell our cars for the highest blue book value given. Or simply to multiply whatever they say the car is worth by 1.2, or something modest but effective like that. Slowly we can influence the market trend, maybe.

Actually, it would be better to keep parting and chopping as many as we can. Create some demand. Look at the 914, with rust it averages more than most early 944's

Sure, a lack of 944s would probably drive up their value, but then it would be sad to not see them as often. I think it's cool that such a cool car from an otherwise misinspired era is so abundant. I'd rather have 944s be cheap and abundant than rare and valuable.

I find it hilarious that people bitch and whine about how our cars have no value and get ragged on for being "not a real Porsche", then simultaneously complain whenever one is priced more than a couple of thousand bucks.
Guys, higher asking prices help in putting upward pressure (appreciation) on our cars' values. Especially if someone pays it. If you don't like the price, don't buy it - plain and simple.
If I ever sell my cars I'll deliberately be asking high and not budging; I'll hold out for what I think it should be worth, regardless of what a bunch of cheapos think.

I agree completely. If I were to sell my turbo (It'll never happen) I would ask for big money. I couldn't budge with the price. The car means to much, plus it's a matter of principle.

That would be Hilarious.. We flood the "for sale" market with 944's, all at 2-3 times the going rate in a mass sale.. The market drive powered by Rennlist.
There IS a sucker born every minute..
I'm asking $9500 for mine.. in May.
