I wondered the same thing after seeing some clips on the news this evening. Hope things are reasonably well.

He's probably without power. Hopefully that's the extent of his misfortune.

As you say he's probably without power & therefore no internet. My guess is that Beeg would have been bunkered down in the pub or casino having a few quiet ales !!!
I spoke to some friends in Cairns this morning (still no power to most homes) the center of the cyclone hit a bit further south they said that there wasn't too much destruction in town. Ruined a lot of crops though. There goes the price of tropical fruit.
