To remove the rear seatback, all it takes is the removal of two bolts holding it in on the outside lower ends of the seat.

The remove the lower seatback is much more work - that piece is essentially glued down to the body.

Taking the seats out was the easy part. I did that last weekend in about 30 minutes. The hard part was trying to get the carpet to fit. I had to save it for this weekend.

I have the rear seat removed, I'll be going to an upholstery shop to have a piece of carpet cut for it soon.

My original logic was that I don't really know anyone small enough to fit in the back of a 944 anyway. I tried to sit back there once soon after I bought it, and I didn't fit at all. Now that I have a rollbar, the rear seat would have been totally useless, so it's justified.

I just pulled the upper portion and left the lower portion with no seatbelts. (put black covers over the holes)
it looks fine, not as good as carpet but fine. the bottom portion is like 2 pounds, not worth all the work to remove it. the upper portion is 21.5 pounds, not including the cargo cover, if you have that.

They only sell seats in centrall Europe. Cost of 2 seats with mounting kit and special logo is about 700$.
